Safety at
Frank Residences
Protecting You and Your Family
In our community, we don’t take shortcuts when it comes to the safety of our residents and staff.
The entire community is cleaned and sanitized throughout the day, especially the public areas like restrooms, elevators, and more. Our dining services are now open for residents and visitors with an enhanced plan to ensure the safest environment. Families enjoy visits in all areas of the community. Programs and activities are offered both in-person or virtually.
These are just some of the many concrete actions we’re continuing to put into place around both the Frank Residences community and the greater San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living. Through the collaboration and partnership of both our staff and residents, we’ve been able to prosper at a time when new challenges seem to appear with each passing week. And we will continue to assert this same level of dedication and care across every facet of our operations in order to keep this community as healthy and well as possible.
We appreciate each and every one of you for your support as we work to create an environment that protects the lives and liberties of those who call it home.
Our Commitment to Resident Safety
“Safety is the foundation of dignity. At Frank Residences, it’s our highest priority.”
— Rob Sarison, Executive Director
Safety at Frank Residences goes beyond policies—it’s embedded in our culture. Every staff member, resident, and family member plays a role in creating a secure, supportive environment where peace of mind is part of daily life.
From infection control to emergency preparedness, we take a proactive approach that blends technology, training, and personal care. It’s why families trust us and why residents feel confident calling our community home.
Physical Safety and Secure Living Spaces
We prioritize safety in the design of our buildings and grounds. Our entire campus is equipped with controlled access points, secure entry systems, and well-lit walking paths. Security staff conduct routine patrols, and all visitors check in through a monitored process. Residents enjoy the freedom to move about our campus with the assurance that every corner has been considered with their protection in mind.
Design with peace of mind in mind. Our secure campus is designed for both comfort and protection:
- Secured entries and exits with keycard access
- Perimeter monitoring and visitor check-in
- Even, well-lit walking paths and handrails throughout
- Security patrols during all shifts
Floor Plan, Fall Prevention, Accessibility Features
Smart design = safer living.
Each residence and communal space is thoughtfully designed to reduce fall risk and maximize accessibility. Hallways and rooms include grab bars, non-slip flooring, and ample lighting. Emergency call systems are placed throughout living areas and bathrooms.
We offer customized floor plans for assisted living residences to accommodate individual needs and preferences, as well as specialized layouts designed specifically for memory care patients, with features that support safety, comfort, and cognitive ease.
Our accessible designs include wide doorways, walk-in showers, and barrier-free thresholds to support residents using walkers or wheelchairs. We’ve built every space to minimize fall risk and promote independence.
Ask us for a personal fall-risk assessment when planning your loved one’s move-in and we’ll walk you through the accessibility features in person.
24/7 On-Site Staff and Emergency Response
Highly trained team members are on-site 24 hours a day, ready to respond immediately to emergencies or urgent health needs. Staff receive regular training in emergency protocols, including CPR and fall response, and all team members are equipped with communication tools to quickly alert clinical teams if needed. Whether it’s a minor concern or a critical situation, help is always nearby.
- Certified nursing assistants and wellness staff on every shift
- 2-minute average response time to emergency call buttons
- Mobile radios connect staff campus-wide
- Quarterly safety drills to maintain response readiness
Secure Memory Care Environment
“Knowing my mom can enjoy the outdoors safely, even with her memory loss, gives me so much peace.”
— Jenna, Daughter of Memory Care Resident
For residents living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, our Memory Care neighborhood provides a safe and supportive environment. Memory care requires a unique approach to safety—and we’ve designed our program with both compassion and structure.
Memory Care Safety Highlights:
- Secured neighborhoods with keypad-controlled access
- Enclosed outdoor gardens for safe wandering
- Motion sensors for night-time monitoring
- Specialized staff trained in dementia care and behavioral support
Medication Management
Keeping medications on track is essential for resident health and safety. We partner closely with residents’ physicians and families to manage dosage changes and new prescriptions. Medications are stored securely and tracked digitally to reduce risk and support resident health.
How we help
- On-site licensed nurses oversee every medication pass
- Digital records to prevent missed or incorrect doses
- Medication storage in secure, temperature-controlled units
- Close coordination with residents’ physicians and pharmacies
At Frank Residences, families can opt in for medication alerts to stay informed of any dosage changes.
Fire and Disaster Preparedness
We maintain a comprehensive emergency preparedness plan that covers fire safety, earthquake response, and other potential hazards. Regular drills are conducted with both staff and residents. Smoke detectors, fire suppression systems, and clearly marked evacuation routes are standard throughout the community. We also maintain emergency water, food, and medical supplies in case of natural disaster or extended power outages.
Family Involvement and Communication
Open communication with families is essential to keeping everyone informed and involved. We provide regular updates via email, phone, and in-person meetings, and our staff are always available to answer questions or share observations. Families are partners in care planning and are encouraged to participate in activities, wellness reviews, and safety discussions.
Health and Infection Control Protocols
We follow stringent health and hygiene protocols in line with CDC, state, and local guidelines. Frequent sanitation of high-touch surfaces, the use of hospital-grade disinfectants, and staff wellness checks are just a few of the measures in place. During heightened public health concerns, we quickly adapt to increased testing, mask usage, and visitor management as needed to protect all who live and work here.
